How do you know about UV protection?

I am wondering if the high index lens can have a much thinner edge than those ordinary lenses at the same prescription, so can they block more UV rays either, that is does the UV protection has some necessary relationship with refractive index, as the stronger the index, the more effective the lens can bend and block the light?
