Default What's mean about BAL and DS on my prescription?

Normally, eyeglass prescriptions are easily confusing to most wearers. Here are a few useful tips to help you understand your glasses prescription in order to you could order new eyeglasses online with confidence. The common prescriptions are made up of numbers and symbols.

See the below my prescription,
SPH CYL AXIS
O.D. +1.75 DS
O.S. BAL
PD 65

What's mean about BAL and DS on my prescription? Who can help me explain it? Thanks. Bob

DS: Or D.S. is diopters sphere, which means you have sphere only, both CYL and AXIS are blank.
BAL: If you see the word "Bal" or "Balance" in the glasses prescription for one eye, then enter BAL as the sphere power for that eye. The word “Balance” or “Bal” is used to show that the prescription in that eye is not important, as the eye has no useful vision. When balance is entered, then a lens of similar power to the good eye is used for the balance lens, this makes the glasses look "balanced". Hope that could help you.
